While transforming The Shop into a residence, we wanted to maintain the character of the wooden slabs that used to inhabit the space and turn them into moments within the new program as a nod to the building's former use. ‍ This oversized piece was crafted in-situ, to accommodate its size and precarious nature of transporting such a piece. This also allowed us to play with the finish of the piece in its final resting place, taking full advantage of the light qualities and how they transform the environment throughout the day.
