About: The Dining Table
While transforming The Shop into a residence, we wanted to maintain the character of the wooden slabs that used to inhabit the space and turn them into moments within the new program as a nod to the building's former use.
This oversized piece was crafted in-situ, to accommodate its size and precarious nature of transporting such a piece. This also allowed us to play with the finish of the piece in its final resting place, taking full advantage of the light qualities and how they transform the environment throughout the day.

DINING
We worked to source hardware that complemented the look and feel of the wood, but also allow for an ergonomic experience.

IN SITU
The piece was made on-site: from processing the wood, to casting the resin and polishing the surfaces. Fabrication was phased to accommodate the construction schedule of the space.
HAND FISHING
In order to withstand the use over time as well as match the ethos of the space, we hand polished the resin and wood for a matte effect to show off the grain character as well as maintain use.
